Temple of Apollo (temple of Poseidon)

It is the most recent temple of Paestum, built towards 450 bC. For a long time, one had believed that it was dedicated to Poseidon.

Temple of Hera (Basilica)


It is oldest temple, built towards 550 bC. This temple was know wrongly from the XVIIIth century as a Roman basilica.

Streets, roads, forum, theatres

In the center of the excavation site, there is the Roman forum, built on the Greek agora. There remain only hardly a half of the Roman amphittheatre. The other part having been shaven at the time of construction of the road in 1930. The inhabitants said that the engineer responsible of this work was condemned thereafter to a jail sentence.
